The Day's Inn had poor acoustics, and we woke up at 5 a.m. to the sound of a woman next door talking loudly on the phone, the man to whom she was talking on speaker. I lay there for a while hoping Elena would sleep through it, but we were both wide awake at six on our way to the beach to see the sunrise and feed the gulls our leftover motel breakfast.
We had a wonderful time!
We drove to Port A through Corpus Christi, left on the ferry. When we got home, the first thing she did was run next door to share her seashells with Sebastien and Makken. Sebastien gave her a geode.
Halfway between Port A and home, we stopped at Oakville--where you can see authentic buildings, machinery, a tack house and chuck wagon, and other memorabilia going back to the year it was founded, 1865.
