Carlene and I drove for four days--spending our last night just outside Houston. We got home Thursday afternoon, then drove to Helotes to see Will and family and have a salmon dinner. We'd brought bread pudding and hummingbird cake from Breaux Bridge and kolaches and cookies from La Grange, Texas--all yummy!
Here's Carlene reading Elena's "angel book" (the Bible) to her:
On our first day back--yesterday--we drove all the way to Uvalde, looking for an antique lamp restorer for some kerosene lamps Mike had sent back to be repaired.
Kate joined us for a beautiful drive and dinner at Sammy's. When we got to Uvalde, we found out that the lamp guy was in Castroville, so we drove all the way back there and found the man and left the lamps.
I had mis-remembered the name and town of the lamp man--so we drove an extra hundred miles or so looking for him, but it was a fun extension of the road trip.
