Papi loves to give animals to his grandchildren. Last week's present to Nathan and Elena were two baby ducks and two baby chicks.
In their tribe, the goat, Scratchy, is still alive and sociable. The two horses, the two dogs, the cat, the turtle and about four grown chickens are still alive. But from time to time, the coyotes visit and some chickens disappear--as did the baby rabbit Elena and her daddy rescued at Christmas time.
After the new guys were there a few hours, Elena ran in the house, all excited: "Daddy, the chicks and the ducks aren't dead yet!"
It's a special day when no animals get dead!
