I'm living these three weeks in an Atticus Finch neighborhood in Athens, Georgia, the city of my birth and two quarters of freshman year at University of Georgia before I got married and moved to Texas.
I hope to learn more about the history of this neighborhood as I meet more people. But the house itself--is perfection for me. Old with high ceilings and great furniture, a library wall, old rugs, big porch with twinkle lights, a big back yard, and a good bed. One of the tables is already covered with leather books-in-the-making and one hardback book and several Sashiko embroidery projects. I may or may not finish them all, but it feels like home having the dining table covered with possibilities.
After a morning visit with Carlene today, Jocelyn and I spent an hour in Costco trying on and buying jackets and vests and socks, then groceries. It was so much fun. I never have enough winter clothes, but tonight I feel ready for a trip to Minnesota!
Luci and Jocelyn love each other to bits. When Jocelyn arrives, Luci runs out to meet her whimpering with delight!
It's been a good and special day!
Not much foliage action yet, but the weather is delightful. The foliage map shows vivid colors starting in about a week.
