Color stories

At the upholstery store, the clerk saw me stacking different fabrics on the table and asked, "Are you building a story?"

What a great question!

I guess we're always building stories.  Each bolt of fabric or lamp or bowl or pair of shoes or jewelry--really, everything we make or buy--is part of the story we're writing about who we are, where we've been, and what we love.

When I bought Jane Bishop's pair of mockingbird chairs, they became the focal point for the room--so now the story is taking an unexpected plot turn.

Jane is meeting me at European Arts Upholstery at 11 to help me decide how to best flesh out the character of the hundred-year-old sofa I bought.
