Coca Cola

Mike and I were just remembering last night these aluminum drinking glasses.  Back when we were kids, we didn't have cokes in our refrigerators at home; we bought them from machines at the gas stations occasionally.  "Do you want to split a coke?" Carlene would ask Bob and me.  For years we thought cokes were called Split-a-Cokes.

Mimi, my sweet grandmother, used to buy Coca Colas for our visits and serve them over ice in these cups--along with Oreos.  Maybe this is where I got my love of bright colors--as carriers of sweet drinks on hot days.

Nothing was more special than floats in these glasses--a coke or ginger ale with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
